Trimmings...

When the first 300 Bullets arrvived, I packaged them all that same day. This is a photo of the trimmings created by the Rota-trim as I was cutting the label sheets. The white stripe between the two blue ones is one pixel wide.

I am realizing that I am fascinated by by-products (note metal shavings an entry back). One great by-product is saw dust. A 'marketable' by-product, saw dust can be used as a fuel, reprocessed into particle board, or mixed with clay (or ice) to create a material with similar properties to concrete.

Quid Aere Perennius? ("What Is More Lasting Than Brass?")

The first set of Bullets arrived from Chicago on 10/6. The machinist I will be using for subsequent runs is located in Waterbury, CT. Telling my Dad this, I learned that this is where he bought my mom her engagement ring. Sparked some interest in the area, so...

Here is a bit from a wiki entry on Waterbury:

Throughout the first half of the 20th century Waterbury had large industrial interests and was the leading center in the United States for the manufacture of brassware (including castings and finishings), as reflected in the nickname the "Brass City" and the city's motto Quid Aere Perennius? ("What Is More Lasting Than Brass?"), which echoes the Latin of Horace's Ode 3.30.

The Bullet was built to last.

Paramount Bicycle Repair

The peg board is a good indication of the nature of this shop. Tyler, the owner and one-man-show, does most of his business in repairs. If you want your rig dialed in, this is a great spot just off Broadway in Somerville, MA.

On the way out to Wheelworks in Belmont last Sunday, I pedaled west on the Minuteman Rail Trail. The Bike Stop along the path now carries The Bullet. They are a repair and sales shop right along the bike-way. Russell, the owner, carries an incredible assortment of vintage and new banana seat bikes and bmxs, as well as the standard offerings. Returning to Cambridge in the early evening I stumbled onto Commonwealth Ave, closed to traffic for the afternoon (photo above).

Been a member for a couple of years now and have participated in several of these amazing rides. Critical Mass takes place on the last Friday of each month, usually meeting in Union Square.

First drawing

Here is the first drawing of The Bullet, made in August 2009. Like many riders, especially commuters, I carry a presta to schrader adapter on my person when riding. Like many riders, I would lose the adapter or might not have it on the day I needed it. Figuring the keychain a convenient place to carry the device, I drew up this sketch...

The Bullet!

Commuting by bike, I keep a valve adapter immediately on hand. I invented The Bullet to reduce the number of items in my pockets, and to prevent the loss of the small device.
