Someday, I hope to make a photograph as cool as this..
The original owners of Ernie's Cycle Shop in Westbrook, Maine. This image was used for the store's opening advertisement in 1952. I stopped by the shop, spoke to current owner Sylvia (part of husband-wife team), and could not resist capturing this photo to share.

Men's Downhill
The Downhill course was radical.
I balance on the steep wooded slope preparing to try to freeze this high speed action. The first indication of a rider on course is the distant ringing of cowbells and cheers from the crowd up mountain. As the din rises, it is joined by the hammering sound of the bike's suspensions bottoming out, and the racer flashes into view through the trees. He hurdles by heavily, on the edge of control, tires thumping over rocks and roots, grinding into the mud. I am close enough to feel the ground shake. Sights and sounds recede quickly below, a dust cloud hangs in the dappled sun.

More Men's 4X
This course was amazing and the race spectacular. 4X could be considered the off-spring of downhill and bmx: 4 riders start in gates and barrel down a steep course that has been dialed in for excitement with banked corners, jagged outcroppings, and huge gap jumps.
